It has been a long road, this campaign season, not only nationally but also close to home here in our soon-to-be-city. When the signs of candidates are removed from the lawns, the signs of physical, intellectual and emotional exhaustion in our friends', family's, neighbors', and our own faces will probably still be present for awhile.
For today, for just a moment or perhaps a good half-hour, I invite you to take a break from it all and walk a nearby labyrinth. Its unpredictable twists and turns may remind you of the path we have just walked, but its soothing effects on your mental state will be undeniable. I particularly like the labyrinth at The Link Counseling Center on Mount Vernon Road in Sandy Springs (close to the library, on the opposite side). It is at "The House Next Door" near the front of the parking lot. There is also a beautiful memorial garden in the back of the house that always puts things in perspective for me pretty quickly.
If you are interested in reading more about labyrinths, and finding others nearby, you may enjoy my articles published in New Life Journal on the topic:

Labyrinths remind me of my guiding philosophy of life: Trust the journey.
