I just spent the last hour writing my daily post on FoodShed Planet. It's about three new brands my husband discovered at Target the other day. I interviewed the owners of each of these companies yesterday, and thought, since we purchased these products right here in our Dunwoody Target, that you would be interested in what I discovered for those times when you want "the easy way out." Here's the post.
Oh, c'mon, let's be honest here. I'm walking with my friend Ashley this morning and frankly, I'm out of time to cover a brand new topic so yes, I'm recycling my other blog's post. Hey, at least I "walk the walk" about recycling!
And speaking of "walking the walk," for those who don't know me personally, I live on the bottom of an enormous hill. I climb that hill every single day when I walk or bike. And, as I say often to my friends (mostly when they ask me to serve on committees), that's the only hill I care to climb (sound familiar, Ashley?!). I have no intention or interest in trying to talk people into things like organics or sustainability or healthy school lunches or any other cause. I don't, and won't, serve on committees facing uphill battles.
What I will do is apply my professional experience and personal passion to advance a cause in which people have expressed interest and are willing to give real support. However, I am fully cognizant of the fact that sometimes good ideas need to wait awhile, but I know enough not to waste my time trying to keep them on life support. Other projects (such as the ones that help pay my bills!) need my attention elsewhere.
As for uphill battles? I have enough of that just getting out of my neighborhood. Sometimes the "easy way out" (whether it be a car ride, a frozen meal or serving only where true forward progress is foreseeable) is simply pragmatic.
